Steven Bowditch leapt into contention for the title at the True South Classic during a rain-interrupted second round in Madison, Mississippi.
Bowditch fired a 5-under-par 67 to be 11-under for the tournament and holding down outright fourth place, two strokes shy of leader Billy Horschel of United States.
Horschel fired a 9-under 63 in the second round to take a one-stroke lead with several players still to complete their rounds due to inclement weather.
He posted eagles on the fifth and 18th holes in his bogey-free round to reach 13-under.
Matt Bettencourt was one stroke back after a 6-under 66.
